Scripture
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” – Matthew 7:7 (NIV)
Reflection
Life often feels like a series of locked doors. We pray for answers, clarity, or provision, but sometimes the silence feels louder than the response. In Matthew 7:7, Jesus reminds us that God is not a distant or indifferent Father. Instead, He is attentive, generous, and responsive to those who come to Him with persistence and faith.
Asking, seeking, and knocking represent more than just prayer—they reflect a posture of trust and action. To ask is to express dependence on God. To seek is to pursue His will and wisdom actively. To knock is to persist, even when the answer doesn’t come right away. In today’s world, where instant results are expected, this verse challenges us to lean into God’s timing and stay persistent in prayer and faith.
We all face struggles—financial stress, health battles, strained relationships, uncertainty about the future. This verse doesn’t promise that every request will be answered exactly as we want, but it does promise that God hears, responds, and provides what is truly best. His “door” may open in unexpected ways, but His heart toward us is always good.
Application
Think about one area of your life where you’ve stopped asking, seeking, or knocking because you grew weary or discouraged. Bring that back to God today. Ask Him again in prayer. Seek His guidance in His Word. Knock with persistence, trusting His timing.
Reflective Question: What “door” have I stopped knocking on because I lost faith that it would open?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for being a loving and generous God who listens when I pray. Forgive me for the times I’ve grown discouraged and stopped asking, seeking, or knocking. Renew my faith today and help me to trust in Your goodness and timing. Open the doors You have prepared for me, and guide me into Your perfect will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Takeaway / Affirmation
